About the San Diego Ocean Planning Partnership
The San Diego Ocean Planning Partnership is a collaborative pilot between the California State Lands Commission and the Port of San Diego, each of whom manage and balance Public Trust ocean uses including commerce, navigation, recreation, fisheries, and environmental stewardship.
Ocean planning is a comprehensive process that considers the dynamic and interconnected relationship between the ocean environment and human activity. Through this pilot, we will identify current and emerging uses in the ocean space offshore San Diego County and assess the relationships between them.
With the goal of establishing a foundation for potential future ocean planning efforts in this area, we will develop a management framework and an interactive spatial tool to support our own management decisions and provide information to current and future ocean users.
